Bounce by Doreen Cronin is only one of the many books we have to get you moving!
Frequently we do Movement as a theme at Story Time. We’re always moving at story time, but when the whole story time is themed around movement, it is especially fun. Sometimes we read stories about movement and sometimes we read a story that we can move with. Last week we did both. Which made me think about some of my favorite movement stories. Here is a sampling:
Monkey and Me by Emily Gravett (E GRAVETT) is a new favorite. We read it and acted out all the animals they went to see. Great fun!
From Head to Toe by Eric Carle (EF CARLE) is an all-time favorite of mine. It really does give you a chance to move, well, from head to toe. (I often skip the donkey page if story time is busy to avoid kicking.)
Bounce!, Wiggle! and Stretch by Doreen Cronin (E CRONIN) have some parts you can move to and others that you will probably just read. All three are fun reads.
What We Do by Reg Cartwright (E CARTWRIG) is simple enough for even very young children to listen to. You might just read it as an introduction to animals or act it out for even more fun.
Toddlerobics Animal Fun by Zita Newcombe (E NEW) is an active one. It would be fun to do it with a small group in a space large enough to act out all the parts.
Add some movement to your story reading! Have fun!
