The night sky has always held a fascination for artists and photographers, but recent advances in digital imaging technology have made it easier for amateur photographers to capture stunning photos of the stars, moon, and more. Local photographer Scott Butner will present a 90 minute lecture and slide show on how to capture the wonders of the night sky including: photographing the Milky way; how to photograph star trails; taking pictures of the moon without a telescope; timing your shots around the stars; and photographing meteors. This is a mostly non-technical talk, aimed at amateur photographers with cameras that can be operated manually. It is NOT intended for serious amateur astronomers or astro-imagers, and will not cover telescope techniques. The emphasis will be on incorporating the night sky in landscape photos. Tips on capturing the November 17 Leonids meteor shower will be included.
